The 3 Golden Rules of a Good Beginners Workout
Beginners Workout Golden Rule #1 – Playing To Win
When most of us play a game, we play to win. I’ve heard some people say that winning is not important, that it’s playing the game that matters. I agree with that up to a certain extent. Yes, its fun to play, but its more fun to win. If playing is all that matters, then why do we even have winners and losers? When it comes to training, you have to play to win. This means getting the results you want and achieving your goal. What’s the point otherwise?
The first key to winning is staying motivated. We do that by keeping our goal in sight and dividing it into smaller and more concrete objectives. We then aim for those short terms goals which will be smaller victories leading to the big one. Each time you feel like you’re losing sight of your goal, remind yourself why you are doing it. See yourself already having achieved your goal. When you stay motivated, you’ll keep on going. When you keep on going, you will win!
Beginners Workout Golden Rule #2 – Warm Up The Right Way
Most people believe or think that cardio is a good warm up for weight lifting and muscle building exercises. Sorry, not true. Sure, you’ll feel warm, you’ll be breathing hard and your heart will be pumping. But it doesn’t do too much for the muscles you plan to train, like arms, chest, shoulders or back.
Those needed to be warmed up locally. A local warm up ensures that the muscles are ready and activated for the heavy lifting. For a local warm up, all you have to do is the same exercise you were planning to do, but you only use 40% of the weight. This activates the muscles, tendons and cells and gets them ready without costing too much energy. This will work for any workout, including your beginners workout.
Beginners Workout Golden Rule #3 – Get Rested, Get Results
Your body doesn’t get bigger, stronger or fitter till you rest. You can only start building up the wall once it is no longer being broken down. Provided you are giving your body the right fuels and building blocks, you’ll get the results during the rest period. The trick is in finding the balance so you don’t end up waiting too long or not waiting long enough. This comes with experience; so don’t worry too much about it when you’re starting with a beginners workout.
Start with about 2 days for the muscles you worked out and if you find that’s too much, then bring it down. Play with these Golden Rules for your Beginners Workouts and you’ll find that winning is one step closer.
